Now That We Found Love rapper Heavy D dead at 44

Sad breaking news.

Rapper Heavy D, who was one of the most influential rappers of the 1990s, died suddenly today.

Mark November 8, 2011 as a very sad day in history.

44-years-old Dwight Arrington Myers was rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Center hospital in Los Angeles around noon this afternoon after collapsing at his Beverly Hills home and according to reports, the rap legend and former leader of the hip-hop group Heavy D and the Boyz was pronounced dead at 1 p.m. PT

The investigation by police is ongoing but it is said that his death had no signs of foul play.

Heavy D, born May 24, 1967, was a Jamaican American actor, rapper and record producer, whose real name was “Dwight Arrington Myers, broke into the music industry with Living Large, his first record with the Boyz, in 1987. He went on to even greater success with the hit “Now That We Found Love” in 1991, and recorded theme songs for the television series In Loving Color and MADtv. In recent years, D recorded a series of reggae fusion albums.”

He most recently performed at the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Cardiff and 2011 BET Awards, marking his first live show in 15 years.

And his second to last Tweet was paying respect to Joe Frazier who passed away yesterday of complications of liver cancer.
